Hosting

Web hosting is one of the most important things for your online business to be successful, yet so many companies I have worked with choose to cut costs by going with a cheap or no name host and then wonder why their website is up one day and down the other. Therefore, I will list a couple of different web hosting options to help various levels of businesses.

GoDaddy

www.GoDaddy.com

GoDaddy is the company I use for registering all of my domain names, but I lease my own hosting server so I don't need to use them for that. However, any time someone asks me for a host and their on a budget, the first company I recommend is GoDaddy. Reliable service, customer service that actually answers the phone, and monthly prices as low as five bucks can't be beat.

If you're a beginner and trying to do things on your own, I highly suggest their SmartSpace add-on because it lets you add content from YouTube, Facebook, Twitter and more all into your website with just a couple of clicks.

Verio

Verio is the company I use that maintains my own private server. They provide you with total access and the best thing about them is that my site's are never down and I can call someone 24/7 (who is actually in America) and they have always been able to resolve my problems. There are cheaper options out there and Verio makes it seem so easy that I could easily assume that I could save a buck and get the same service somewhere else. However, I quickly learned that isn't the case as I needed a Windows server (the one I currently run is on Unix) and so I gave another company a shot. Yikes! It turned out to be a company that ran the servers from their house, and when something went wrong or I had a question it took them days to get back to me. Service was slow during business hours and they were down for "maintenance" three times in the one month I was with them. All of that just to save a couple dollars? If you're site isn't up, then you're not in business, so don't cut corners with your hosting, simply don't.
